The Holy Father Pope Francis has appointed Sister Helen Alford, a Sister of our Congregation, an ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. 

Sister Helen Alford is currently Vice-Rector of the Pontifical St Thomas Aquinas University in Rome as well as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Sister Helen was born in London on May 1, 1964. She graduated in Management Engineering from Cambridge University, where she also obtained her PhD. It was during her time in Cambridge that she came to know the Dominican Order, through the Friars who served as University Chaplains.

Sister Helen moved to Rome after making her Profession in 1996 and has been teaching at the Angelicum. She has also taught in several universities courses related to economic ethics and the history of Christian social thought. She was a consultant of the Pontifical Justice and Peace Council.

She is the author of numerous publications on management theory and corporate social responsibility.
