A Universe of Leaves
Today, scattered over the lawn,
I saw a universe of fallen leaves,
none the same,
a prodigal display of colours born only in dying;
falling is not the end……
What a magnificent image of life!
What a reflection of humanity!
On this lawn of countless coloured leaves,
lies a magical mirror of a universe of people,
a universe of nations, of cultures, of customs, of beliefs and traditions.
On this lawn lies a picture of people who defy definition,
of people known and unknown
Of everybody and anybody.
It is an image of people
within whom are pools and pools of gifts,
gifts oozing through the spores of their humanity,
gifts that mirror God’s grandeur,
God’s bounty eternally rippling through the universe.
It is earth holding hands with heaven.
